The shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut was an event of evil, perpetrated not by some lone-nut, but rather by some well organized paramilitary group. I don't intend to document for you all the inconsistencies or oddities in this case, a simple search of alternative media will provide you with lots to digest. I will include some links at the end for those unsure of where to begin or continue your search.

My post tonight is going to focus on some footage taken early on that day; this footage can be found here. In the footage, police can be seen running from the back of the school out into the woods. In the accompanying audio, the reporter in the chopper can be heard to say (after you clean up the audio):

"We saw a lot of police officers just start bolting, just starting
running (to/from/around?) the back of the building towards the wooded
area just to the west of the school. At this point uhhh their weapons
seem to be drawn so they are obviously are looking for some kind of
(civilian/suspect/threat?) in that wooded area."

For the time being, let's just ignore what the police are doing and not worry about the man they eventually led out of the woods in handcuffs who yelled to parents "I didn't do it." Instead, lets focus in the upper left area of the screen where a man in a black vest, his white arm and his shadow can be seen shifting and moving as the police close in on the other suspect.

Below are four screenshots captured from the raw helicopter footage, I've marked a tree in the first screenshot to use as a reference when you watch the video. I realize that looking at the screenshots, you can't make out the figure, but you can clearly see movement when you watch the video.
If you are unfamiliar, may I suggest you get up-to date by reading the collection of articles by Scott Creighton at American Everyman (http://willyloman.wordpress.com/)

As I was watching the Bonnie Kate Pourciau Rescue Cell Phone Footage Aurora Shooting Century 16 Theater video posted on YouTube courtesy of the HistoricalRecordsVLT Channel, around the 4:00 minute mark in the video, I recognized the radio chatter in the background from the Police/Fire scanner audio from the night of the shooting. I'm not sure if anyone's proven yet that the female victim in this video is in fact Bonnie Kate Pourciau, but that does not impact what I'm doing here, which is put some sort of a timeline to the events in the cell phone footage of the aftermath of the shooting.

Before we go to the videos, let me point out that one such anomaly of this case is that suspected shooter, James Holmes, is charged with two counts of the attempted murder of Bonnie Kate & two counts of the attempted murder of Bonnie Pourciau (see here). Safe to say, however, that this is most likely only one person, as can be seen in this USA Today piece entitled: Bonnie Kate Pourciau: The spring and summer of 2012 will be a time that Bonnie Kate Pourciau won't soon forget.

Anyways, enough of that silliness--lets go to the video.

Starting at 3:58 in this video:

Radio Chatter: Copy. Uhhhh. Just run that division. So far I have you in charge of Dillard's Division...

So, I knew I recognized the voice and knowing that the time of the scanner audio starts at aproximately 12;39am, I just had to figure out where in the 2hrs of scanner audio that transmission took place.

And here we have it. Starting at 20:26 of the scanner audio in the left (fire/medical) channel is the matching audio where you hear Century Command respond to Dillard Command's mention of "two reds" (critical victims).

So the only conclusion I will make in this tired state is that the radio chatter in the above cell phone video happens approx 20/21 minutes into the police response or at 12:59am/1:00am (0:00:00 = 12:39am so 0:20:26 = 12:59/1:00).

Lastly, the edit at the 2:20 minute mark in the above Cell phone video where the guys are saying "there wasn't an argument or anything it was just outta nowhere" & "they planned it man" and continuing thru to the video edit at 5:26, where the male victim is screaming in pain from his arm, must transpire in the range of 12:57am to about 1:02am.

Unfortunate thing is that this segment of video is all black, but now we have reference for when this female victim was moved from the front/west side of the theater to the back/north east side of the theater.

Hope this helps someone out there.
Listen to Dear Leader Barack Obama (formerly/still? Barry Soetoro) accept the Nobel Peace Prize, which he's done proud. I'm not sure exactly how many countries the United States is currently dropping bombs on (Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, etc) or in some way waging covert wars (Iran, Uganda, Syria, USA, etc), but I think it's safe to say it's more than any other nation.

Also featured in this musical piece is US Secretary of Defense, Hillary Clinton, proudly declaring:

We came, we saw, he died!"

in response to the killing of Libya's long time leader Muammar Gaddafi.

Other news clips from RT help paint a picture of the both Machiavellian & Orwellian manors with which Dear Leaders conduct themselves.

If none of that entices you, maybe the fact that I've sampled Bob Marley, among other artists will interest you.

We Mustn't Allow Syria The Same Fate

As for some quick lessons on what we can learn from the fiasco perpetrated on Libya, before our troops are sent to Syria, lets see what the Canadian government, being led by the Conservative Party, has for us in the news?

True cost of Libya mission was seven times gov't. estimate: documents

$350 Million to help foment a civil war & a slow genocide of a sovereign nation that was the rising jewel of Africa, ranking highest in Africa on the Human Development Index in 2010. Over a year ago I joined the chorus of individuals pointing out that NATO was supporting Al-Qaeda fighters who were leading the "uprising". That's not how I want my tax dollars being spent, that's for sure,

Now I never even knew there was a celebration in Canada for "Victory in Libya", but apparently there was a celebration in Ottawa that apparently "attracted only a couple of dozen Libyan-Canadians who waved flags as cannons sounded a 21-gun salute." That makes this next headline that much more outrageous:

Libya victory ceremony cost soared to over $800,000: documents

That is more than double what the orignal approved budget was. So what was possibly served by firing some cannons and flying a jet overhead? Someone must have thought this was a good way to demonstrate their bravado or machismo.

It's interesting to note:

The Privy Council Office instructed the Canadian Forces on Oct. 2 to begin preparations for the victory celebration, well before the end of the Libyan conflict, according to the records. The office outlined exactly what it wanted and the military complied with a Parliament Hill celebration that included a flypast of aircraft and a parade of Canadian Forces personnel.

I point this out, all the time wondering how many Canadians are aware of the Privy Council Office and what part in plays in the Governance of Canada. Good fortunes willing, time will permit me to delve into this topic at a later date.

With all the lies coming out of our Dear Leader's Lips, it's nice to be joined in my plot on this earth by this tulip. All that escapes from it's presence is a glowing aura and a sweet smell of better days ahead.
to TeensWednesday, May 2, 2012

Paula Simons published an article in the Edmonton Journal today and it was dated May 2, 2012, so I believe that to be the date.

Simons: Too many Albertans ignore HPV vaccine

In this article, Ms. Simons interviews the Chief Medical Officer of Alberta, Andre Corriveau, who believes that there needs to be found "better ways to make the (HPV) vaccine available" to "young people". Apparently, Edmonton's 66% in-school inoculation rate for girls is in some way unsatisfactory to him.

Well today I learned through the Twitter, from CBC reporter Andrea Huncar, that apparently "the committee advising Dr. Corriveau met yesterday and recommended extending coverage to immunize boys against hpv" and as you can see, she explains later, there was no press release. I guess that's why we have Paula Simons.

https://twitter.com/#!/andreahuncar/status/197783501175668736

Andre Corriveau is hoping that the debate about providing the HPV vaccine to boys will provide a chance to have a new conversation about Gardasil, and whether school vaccination clinics are the best strategy to fight HPV.

“It challenges us to rethink our approach, to find better ways to make the vaccine available, in other places young people congregate,”

It's a shame there's no clarification on what Alberta "Top Doc" Andre Corriveau exactly meant by this. Should we be offering HPV vaccinations at the mall? Maybe the local Macs or 7-11? I believe what Mr. Corriveau is hinting at is that our provincial medical overlords would like to make the vaccine available with out pesky parents getting in the way.

California already cleared the way last autumn for girls as young as12 year old to get the HPV vaccine:

California12-Year-Olds to Get HPV Vaccine Without Parental Consent

And New York's political class is following suit:

NY Bill Would Give Children The Right To Consent To Vaccines

Anyways, back to the propaganda that is Paula Simons piece from the Edmonton Journal, where Chief Andre shares his thoughts on why children aren't getting the HPV vaccine at comparible rates to that of booster shots of the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine.

"There was a lot of social marketing, telling people that this was an unsafe vaccine, that girls were being used as guinea pigs. It was quite strident and virulent, and it made a lot of people think, ‘I’m not sure I want my daughter to get this vaccine.’"

How does the Chief compare activists concerned with the danger of Gardasil, who's main avenue of spreading their message is through social media, with the money that Merck, the makers of Gardasil, has to throw behind an "advertising" campaign? What do activists on the internet have to gain by helping individuals make informed consent? Not nearly as much as Merck stands to gain by having governments offer the $400 Gardasil shot series for "free" to as many people as possible.

In 2007, eight months after Gardasil was approved for use in Canada, the federal governement approved $300 million to fund an HPV vaccination program. But here's where it get's more ineresting:

"Merck Frosst Canada Ltd., the maker of Gardasil, hired public relations giant Hill & Knowlton to push the immunization strategies using some well-connected lobbyists: Ken Boessenkool, a former senior policy adviser to Prime Minister Stephen Harper; Bob Lopinski, formerly with Premier Dalton McGuinty's office; and Jason Grier, former chief of staff to Health Minister George Smitherman.

According to Ontario consultant registration documents, Lopinski and Grier's lobbying activities include: 'Proposed policy decision to support a childhood immunization program for HPV and funding related thereto.'"
So Chief Medical Officer Andre Corriveau, would you really have us believe that "social marketing" can compare to a pharmaceutical giant hiring lobbyists who are former insiders to a provincial & federal (dear) LEADER?

But according to Paula Simons, I'm probably part of an "insidious...vocal lobby" myself:

"But there is a larger, more insidious international anti-vaccination movement out there, a vocal lobby that sees vaccines of all sorts as a Big Pharma plot.

The hysteria goes viral, with frightening anecdotes that blame all kinds of inoculations for all kinds of disasters, spreading globally."
So to do Paula proud, here are some frightening anecdotes:

Canadian family sues Merck after daughter dies from Gardasil shot – Toronto Sun

Uncovered FDA Documents Reveal 26 More Gardasil Deaths

Gardasil boys come marching in - 4 new Gardasil deaths reported to VAERS

70% of all HPV infections resolve themselves within a year

Those escaping death still risk other severe side effects including seizures, paralysis, blindness, pancreatitis, speech problems, short-term memory loss and Guillain-Barré Syndrome.

Needless to say, after catching wind that Alberta taxpayers may soon be paying to inject boys with an HPV vaccine, I needed to find a way to clear my head from trying to understand the insanity, thus, my battle to shape my garden into something usable continued on this evening with, satisfactory results.
<div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
Most of what I've learned earlier today has slipped down the memory hole. There is one last article fresh to my memory. This is an article that discusses the fact that the sun is the greatest driver of climate and Earth changes. Many will still claim global warming and/or climate change are driven by man, but to deny the many scientists and researchers proving a greater understanding of weather and solar effects on the planet--to deny them--could be disastrous.

<div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
I've no time now to go in depth to any of this, but here are some people demonstrating a higher understanding of both weather and Earth Changes (earthquakes):

Now, look to the right. There’s probably no one there is there because you’re sitting at the computer all by yourself—I know I am. But, if there were a person sitting on either side of you and you were sitting in Canada , chances are, in November last year one of you thought that at the very least, it was moderately likely that there will be a terrorist attack within Canada, before November 2011, so say’s AngusReid.
I suspect the motivation of this campaign is to get the general public used to being watched, just like all of Springfield (Bart excluded) gets used to being watched, in the May 2010 episode of The Simpsons, To Survail with Love. In this episode of The Simpsons, after Homer forgets a bag containing nuclear rods at the train station, and a bomb scare ensues, the town votes to hire a British security consultant to install surveillance camera’s all around town. First the local police are monitoring the town's public places, then the help of the townspeople is enlisted to spy on their fellow neighbours which leads to Ned becoming Springfield's "conscience". Ned proceeds to nag everyone through the loud speakers, just like they do in London, where if you litter, you may be asked through the nearest loudspeaker to pick up your waste—not that you should litter, but I don't need to be paying for someone to sit behind some cameras, publicly berating individuals to pick up their trash. Even being around while that happened to someone would create a lasting sense of fear in others, and fear, leads nowhere good.

After the original airing of this episode I expressed my disgust of what The Simpsons franchise has progressed to. I went on to later explain to friends that this was a display of predictive programming at its best; this was just a way of getting (North) Americans used to the idea of being watched

K—anyways, back on topic. Oh yes, we were talking about how western governments are scaring their citizens into fearing terrorist attacks and starting them down a slippery slope to spying on their neighbours.

So Transit Watch is funded under a federal program called Transit-Secure, which is a program that, provides (or provided, not sure on that yet) funding for the six highest-volume urban transit systems in Canada-- Montreal, the National Capital Region, Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver.

I'm guessing that's most of our money from Round Three of funding under Transit-Secure. Edmonton was approved $2,174,306, which means the City of Edmonton would have had to provided up to $724,768.66 since the cities committed to paying for 25% of what the feds want them to do; that totals just under $2.9 million

Well wherever you may stand on the whole privacy vs. security debate, there are some things that I would like to bring to your attention. As I mentioned earlier, London has tens of thousands of camera’s running in public (this does not include surveillance cameras belonging to private entities), yet 80% of crimes go unsolved. In fact, four out of five of the boroughs with the most cameras have a record of solving crime that is below average.

In a 2007 release discussing the Toronto Transit Commission’s (TTC) plans to install 12,000 cameras; putting a camera on every bus, streetcar, subway car and at each station, Privacy International (PI), a non-governmental organization that happens to be the oldest surviving privacy advocacy group in the world, dating back to 1997 states:

· Privacy International is aware of no criminological evidence in any country that supports TTC's claim that visual and audio surveillance on public transport systems significantly reduces the level of crime or the threat of terrorist attacks.

· Numerous criminological studies over the past fifteen years have established that the beneficial effects of such surveillance are marginal and that camera systems are handicapped by endemic problems of technology and management. These reports include a 2007 independent study of surveillance on the Berlin Underground and a 2007 United Kingdom Government report on camera effectiveness.

· On the basis of international experience, between eighty and ninety-five percent of all camera images will have no detection or evidential value. Technical and management failure is likely to result in up to fifty percent of potential images being unavailable. Privacy International believes that the installation of cameras on the scale proposed by TTC fundamentally violates privacy law. In the absence of a compelling case for public safety the program is unnecessary and disproportionate. It also appears to be an inappropriate and poorly considered use of resources.[Emphasis added]

https://www.privacyinternational.org/article/pi-files-complaint-about-expansion-cctv-toronto-transit-network

So, should we in Edmonton expect better results? I doubt it. Privacy International provides cases from Berlin & the UK, demonstrating the ineffectualness of cameras to either deter crime or to apprehend those committing crime. According to a report on a pilot project on the Berlin underground that was aimed to test the extent to which 24-hour video surveillance could reduce criminality:

“[V]ideo surveillance on the three underground lines did not reduce the incidence of criminality, but in fact led to a small increase. Of a total of many thousands of criminal incidents, video material was available in only 78 cases. In only a third of these was the recording of sufficient quality to allow suspects to be identified. In particular, the cameras were not able to contribute to a higher detection rate regarding prevention of vandalism. The report suggests that in this case the reason no usable video recordings were obtained was that criminals were taking the cameras into account in planning their malfeasance. [Emphasis Added]

TTC has cited camera surveillance in the United Kingdom as a justification for establishing a similar project in Toronto, Privacy International however goes onto demonstrate that in fact, the United Kingdoms experience establishes the failure of the technology to perform to expectation.

Numerous criminological studies, including those commissioned by the Home Office, the interior ministry responsible for policing, and by independent groups such as the National Association for the Care and Resettlement of Offenders (NACRO) have consistently concluded that the impact of surveillance cameras is marginal and largely illusory. Their chief benefit, according to researchers, is in deterring some types of low level "opportunistic" crime, a benefit that could be more inexpensively and effectively achieved through other means.

The most recent of these reports, the 2007 study on the national CCTV strategy concludes that eight images out of ten supplied to the police from closed-circuit television do not help to identify criminals. The report, compiled by the Home Office and the Association of Chief Police Officers, said:

"Anecdotal evidence suggests that over 80 per cent of the CCTV footage supplied to the police is far from ideal, especially if it is being used for primary identification or [where] identities are unknown and identification is being sought."[7]

The report also said that the proliferation of CCTV cameras was presenting the police with serious problems – in particular their capacity to recover evidence and review tapes.

The police are concerned that cameras are increasingly being used to "monitor crowds, slips, trips and falls" and "patrol" rather than to detect crime.[8] This is compounded by an increasing tendency for camera schemes to be used as income generators.

Following the London terrorist attacks in 2005, former UK Home Secretary Charles Clarke told the BBC's Today program that he could not envision a situation where surveillance cameras would prevent a terrorist attack. [Emphasis Added]

So where am I going with all this?

15 years ago, it probably would’ve seemed a ridiculous notion to most to have to remove shoes and diapers to board a plane, yet this is now commonplace, as is submitting yourself to a nice dose of radiation courtesy of the full-body scanners that were rolled out after the false flag terrorist attempt on Christmas day 2009, where a Nigerian national was gotten onto the plane without a passport courtesy of US authorities,

The only effect I can foresee Transit Watch having is increasing the level of fear in the general public, just look at the correlation between how long these surveillance states have been implemented and the levels of fear in the US, Canada & Britain. Referring back to our graph from the beginning, we see in Britain, which has really led the way in creating a surveillance grid of its major cities, 3 in 4 people believe the next terrorist attack will hit before November. In the US, where the government has been ramping up it’s surveillance of it’s citizens for a few years now, 50% of the people think the next attack on them is just around the corner. And us, in the former peace keeping nation of Canada, well this increased surveillance state is new to us, but with it is going to come an increased level of fear; fear that will continue to help control and shape peoples decisions.

I discussed a Simpsons Episode earlier, and how it was lulling it's audience into being comfortable with this now ever-present watchful eye in our life. TV has become reality for such large portions of the population, that the fact that they see this surveillance grid is in the Simpsons, it seems entirely normal when they encounter this in the reality outside their living room.

These programs have been implemented within multiple levels of society and reality has been designed by social engineers that you may or may not think exist, but these people understand human decision making and are able to influence decisions and behaviors and are leading us down a dark path of fear. This propaganda that's training you to live in fear and to accept Big Brother watching over your back needs to be exposed for what it is--it is simply the Public Relations division of the military-industrial-culture creation-complex, after all, public relations is what propaganda became called after the term propaganda got such a bad rap in WWII

If there does happen to be an attack on the LRT or a DATs Van in Edmonton (or anywhere else in Canada), don't be surprised if Transport Canada is quick to roll out new fear-based security programs aimed at "keeping us safe", while in reality, increasing their ability to control and monitor Canadians. This needs to be kept in mind when you consider how outrageous "security" and "security measures" are getting within the US & UK--the exact same places we get all our "best practices" for security.

Feffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04383778855307170198noreply@blogger.com0West Edmonton, Edmonton, AB, Canada53.5515194979555 -113.6154214824218853.4663929979555 -113.70691248242188 53.636645997955505 -113.52393048242187tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7960057735844443602.post-19447496322306266992011-06-15T02:07:00.002-06:002012-01-28T18:22:21.655-07:00Canadian Bilderberg Attendees 2011 Part 1

Does this familiar to anyone lately? (Think Greece)

Between November 2004 and October 2007 Carney was senior associate deputy minister, and G7 deputy, at the Canadian Department of Finance. He served under Liberal finance minister Ralph Goodale and Conservative finance minister Jim Flaherty. During that time Carney oversaw the government's controversial plan to tax income trusts at source. While in the Department of Finance, Mark Carney helped architect Jim Flaherty’s income trust tax, which exempted Goldman Sachs from this tax, while expropriating wealth from the small investor in the amount of some $35 billion.

So what does Mr. McKenna have to say about the Bilderberg Group and some of it’s other attendees? Well, he says "it’s just a think tank"; "there’s never a direction given, never even a consensus." “It’s just a matter of debating issues and trying to illuminate the issues” He “finds it amusing to think there’s a conspiracy theory”. Note that George (the host) references the Bilderberg Group as a modern day Illuminati, and then McKenna responds with such a blatant masonic reference as "illuminate the issues". I would also challenge that they're never given direction, and I bet there's probably a consensus on most things, but sure, maybe not everything.

Henry Kissinger - Wanted war criminal in multiple countries--If you don't know why he's a bad dude, StartPage him.

David Rockefeller - “Some even believe we (the Rockefeller family) are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as ‘internationalists’ and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure – one world, if you will. If that's the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it.” - David Rockefeller, Memoirs, page 405

Alright, it's late, if I had more energy, I'd plump this up with some more info, but instead you'll have to check all this out for yourself, which you should do anyways. Hopefully part two can follow soon, featuring:
We never had to do anything; there was always a hero who would make it all better. Maybe this is why we want to have so much faith in government; we have this need to have a protector. We’ve come to depend on them and to have faith in them; they always fix things for us right; that’s what they always tell us isn’t it? So four months ago, I said it might be too late in six months. Well, it's been over four months, and while the price of silver has managed to rise 36% in that time, this does not mean it's too late. I'm not going to cover all the reasons silver has a long way to go, but I will share with you a graphic I came across recently at http://goldcoinscanada.blogspot.com/2010/12/case-for-silver-simple-approach.html.
As you can see, over the last 30 years, silver is actually down, 25% (in December 2010, today silver is over $40/oz)--it has a long way to catch back up to it's precious metal cousins. Historically, it usually took 15-20 ounces of silver to buy an ounce of gold; in 1980, this ratio was 21.25 ounces of silver to 1 ounce of gold. Over the last 6 months this ratio has dropped from upwards of 58:1 down to close to 36:1. In all likelihood, silver is going to continue to catch up to it's historical norm, which mean's, even if we took $1500/oz gold (currently $1457, in all likelihood, $1600+ by year end) that would equal $75/oz silver (20:1)$100/oz (15:1), though there's no saying exactly how long it might take silver to reach these historical norms once again. Something else to keep in mind is that countless commentators and investors, much wiser than I are saying that $2000/oz & $5000/oz gold is in our future, maybe even before the decade is out.
Prices aren't rising, sure it costs you more for all your basics (food, energy), but that's not because the prices are rising, that's because our dollars are losing their value (of which there is no inherent value, like in silver and gold). On December 3, 2010, silver closed at $29.38/oz, oil at $90.26/brl; that mean's with 3.1oz of silver, I could've bought a barrel of oil. Today, silver closed out at $40.11/oz, oil at $106.67; which means I'd only have to spend 2.7oz for a barrel of oil today. Bet you didn't think the price of oil had gone down in the last 4 months.

On December 2, 2010, gas jumped up to about $0.94/L--a 50 litre fill costing $47 or 1.6oz of silver; fill up 50 litres tonight and that would cost you $54.95 ($1.099/L) or 1.4oz of silver today. With oil prices likely reaching at least $150/barrel before the year is out, in my estimation; prices of almost everything will be affected, that's basically anything that travels to get to you (that's why I also recommend joining a CSA today so you can feed your family with food grown within 50 miles of your dinner table).

It's really quite easy to get on the road to preserving your wealth, by buying silver, rather than losing it to the hidden tax/bondage chain of inflation. There are 6 or 8 coin shops in Edmonton, with silver on hand, you can buy 1oz or 1000oz, and they'll buy it back from you whenever you choose to sell. If I would've know how easy and un-intimidating it was to buy silver from a shop, I would've done it four years ago when silver was still under $13/oz. Don't let yourself miss out on what is still a great opportunity to preserve some of your hard earned wealth. Share this with your family and friends so they can protect their money too.Feffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04383778855307170198noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7960057735844443602.post-51706111199975768462011-04-06T21:13:00.004-06:002012-01-28T18:17:06.222-07:00Some context on the Libyan "Rebels"
Below is a little bit of information for you to keep in mind as you here “news” without context, which is all that the main stream media supplies.

Since a lot of this may be new to some, let me sum up what I've excerpted below. The Libyan rebels currently being supported by NATO forces in fact belong to the same group that has sent the most suicide bombers to Iraq per capita; almost 20% of suicide bombers in Iraq hailed from the north-eastern area of Libya, site of the current uprising. So well we fight Al-Qaida in Afghanistan & Pakistan, we give them air support and weapons in Libya, and by we, I mean the ruthless, corrupt individuals that we still allow to run our countries.
March 24, 2011

Washington DC, March 24, 2011 — The current military attack on Libya has been motivated by UN Security Council resolution 1973 with the need to protect civilians. Statements by President Obama, British Prime Minister Cameron, French President Sarkozy, and other leaders have stressed the humanitarian nature of the intervention, which is said to aim at preventing a massacre of pro-democracy forces and human rights advocates by the Qaddafi regime.

But at the same time, many commentators have voiced anxiety because of the mystery which surrounds the anti-Qaddafi transitional government which emerged at the beginning of March in the city of Benghazi, located in the Cyrenaica district of north-eastern Libya. This government has already been recognized by France and Portugal as the sole legitimate representative of the Libyan people. The rebel council seems to be composed of just over 30 delegates, many of whom are enveloped in obscurity. In addition, the names of more than a dozen members of the rebel council are being kept secret, allegedly to protect them from the vengeance of Qaddafi. But there may be other reasons for the anonymity of these figures. Despite much uncertainty, the United Nations and its several key NATO countries, including the United States, have rushed forward to assist the armed forces of this rebel regime with air strikes, leading to the loss of one or two coalition aircraft and the prospect of heavier losses to come, especially if there should be an invasion. It is high time that American and European publics learned something more about this rebel regime which is supposed to represent a democratic and humanitarian alternative to Gaddafi.

The rebels are clearly not civilians, but an armed force. What kind of an armed force?

Since many of the rebel leaders are so difficult to research from afar, and since a sociological profile of the rebels cannot be done on the ground in the midst of warfare, perhaps the typical methods of social history can be called on for help. Is there a way for us to gain deeper insight into the climate of opinion which prevails in such northeastern Libyan cities as Benghazi, Tobruk, and Darnah, the main population centers of the rebellion?

It turns out that there is, in the form of a December 2007 West Point study examining the background of foreign guerrilla fighters — jihadis or mujahedin, including suicide bombers — crossing the Syrian border into Iraq during the 2006-2007 timeframe, under the auspices of the international terrorist organization Al Qaeda. This study is based on a mass of about 600 Al Qaeda personnel files which were captured by US forces in the fall of 2007, and analyzed at West Point using a methodology which we will discuss after having presented the main findings. The resulting study1 permits us to make important findings about the mentality and belief structures of the northeastern Libyan population that is furnishing the basis for the rebellion, permitting important conclusions about the political nature of the anti-Qaddafi revolt in these areas.

Darnah, with one terrorist fighter sent into Iraq to kill Americans for every 1,000 to 1,500 persons of population, emerges as suicide bomber heaven, easily surpassing the closest competitor, which was Riyad, Saudi Arabia

According to West Point authors Joseph Felter and Brian Fishman, Saudi Arabia took first place as regards absolute numbers of jihadis sent to combat the United States and other coalition members in Iraq during the time frame in question. Libya, a country less than one fourth as populous, took second place. Saudi Arabia sent 41% of the fighters. According to Felter and Fishman, “Libya was the next most common country of origin, with 18.8% (112) of the fighters listing their nationality stating they hailed from Libya.” Other much larger countries were far behind: “Syria, Yemen, and Algeria were the next most common origin countries with 8.2% (49), 8.1% (48), and 7.2% (43), respectively. Moroccans accounted for 6.1% (36) of the records and Jordanians 1.9% (11).”2

This means that almost one fifth of the foreign fighters entering Iraq across the Syrian border came from Libya, a country of just over 6 million people. A higher proportion of Libyans were interested in fighting in Iraq than any other country contributing mujahedin. Felter and Fishman point out: “Almost 19 percent of the fighters in the Sinjar Records came from Libya alone. Furthermore, Libya contributed far more fighters per capita than any other nationality in the Sinjar Records, including Saudi Arabia.” (See the chart from the West Point report, page 9)3

The eastern Libyan city of Darnah sent more fighters to Iraq than any other single city or town, according to the West Point report. It noted that 52 militants came to Iraq from Darnah, a city of just 80,000 people (the second-largest source of fighters was Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which has a population of more than 4 million). Benghazi, the capital of Libya’s provisional government declared by the anti-Qaddafi rebels, sent in 21 fighters, again a disproportionate number of the whole.”4 Obscure Darnah edged out metropolitan Riyadh by 52 fighters to 51.

The anti-Qaddafi Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) Merges with al Qaeda, 2007

The specific institutional basis for the recruitment of guerrilla fighters in northeastern Libya is associated with an organization which previously called itself the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG). During the course of 2007, the LIFG declared itself an official subsidiary of al Qaeda, later assuming the name of Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM). As a result of this 2007 merger, an increased number of guerrilla fighters arrived in Iraq from Libya. According to Felter and Fishman, “The apparent surge in Libyan recruits traveling to Iraq may be linked the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group’s (LIFG) increasingly cooperative relationship with al-Qaeda, which culminated in the LIFG officially joining al-Qaeda on November 3, 2007.”8 This merger is confirmed by other sources: A 2008 statement attributed to Ayman al-Zawahiri claimed that the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group has joined al-Qaeda.9

What is al Qaeda and Why the CIA Has Used It

Al Qaeda is not a centralized organization, but rather a gaggle or congeries of fanatics, dupes, psychotics, misfits, double agents, provocateurs, mercenaries, and other elements. As noted, Al Qaeda was founded by the United States and the British during the struggle against the Soviets in Afghanistan. Many of its leaders, such as the reputed second-in-command Ayman Zawahiri and the current rising star Anwar Awlaki, are evidently double agents of MI-6 and/or the CIA. The basic belief structure of Al Qaeda is that all existing Arab and Moslem governments are illegitimate and should be destroyed, because they do not represent the caliphate which Al Qaeda asserts is described by the Koran. This means that the Al Qaeda ideology offers a ready and easy way for the Anglo-American secret intelligence agencies to attack and destabilize existing Arab and Muslim governments as part of the ceaseless need of imperialism and colonialism to loot and attack the developing nations. This is precisely what is happening in Libya today.

Al Qaeda emerged from the cultural and political milieu of the Moslem Brotherhood or Ikhwan, itself a creation of British intelligence in Egypt in the late 1920s. The US and the British used the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood to oppose the successful anti-imperialist policies of Egyptian President Nasser, who scored immense victories for his country by nationalizing the Suez Canal and building the Aswan High Dam, without which modern Egypt would be simply unthinkable. The Muslim brotherhood provided an active and capable fifth column of foreign agents against Nasser, in the same way that the official website of Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb is trumpeting its support for the rebellion against Colonel Qaddafi.

Northeast Libyan Jihadis Killing US, NATO Forces in Afghanistan Right Now

One of the fatal contradictions in the current State Department and CIA policy is that it aims at a cordial alliance with Al Qaeda killers in northeast Libya, at the very moment when the United States and NATO are mercilessly bombing the civilian northwest Pakistan in the name of a total war against Al Qaeda, and US and NATO forces are being killed by Al Qaeda guerrillas in that same Afghanistan-Pakistan theater of war. The force of this glaring contradiction causes the entire edifice of US war propaganda to collapse. The US has long since lost any basis in morality for military force.

The Scenario Uncovered by the 1995 Shayler Affair is Operative Today

In 1995, David Shayler, an official of the British counterintelligence organization MI-5, became aware that his counterpart at the British foreign espionage organization MI-6 had paid the sum of £100,000 to an Al Qaeda affiliate in exchange for the attempt to assassinate Qaddafi. The assassination attempt did occur, and killed several innocent bystanders, but failed to eliminate the Libyan ruler. As Shayler understood the MI-6 scenario, it included the liquidation of Gaddafi, followed by the descent of Libya into chaos and tribal warfare, with a possible option for a direct seizure of power by al Qaeda itself. This situation would then provide a pretext for Britain, probably but not necessarily acting together with the United States or other countries, to invade Libya and seize control of the oil fields, probably establishing a permanent protectorate over the oil regions, the pipelines, and the coast.31 This remains the goal today.

Timed to coincide with the attempt to assassinate Qaddafi, MI-6 and other Western secret intelligence agencies fomented a considerable insurrection in northeast Libya, almost precisely in the same areas which are in rebellion today. Its insurrection was successfully crushed by Qaddafi’s forces by the end of 1996. The events of 2011 are simply a reprise of the imperialist attack on Libya 15 years ago, with the addition of outside intervention.
